It’s Apple. What can you expect?..
I will tell you that’s not typical of how integration config or discovery goes.

I’ve updated to version 2022-12-0
‘Local Calendar’ is one of its added new features as in the readme files while one updates.
I installed the ‘Local Calendar’ integration and again nothing happens. It shows up as an integration and on my dashboard. Now what? how to make it work?
I’m guessing I’ll have to install all sorts of libraries and edit the YAML file to get any form of Calendar working - another few hrs to try and get it going.
Back to my Broadlink challenge…
PS: If anyone knows how to get the Calendar going then please leave instructions
Any help with this would be much appreciated…
Broadlink that is…
You do not need to install libraries or edit any yaml.
Once you have created a new calendar from the integrations page you can click on the calendar icon in the sidebar to view the calendar. To add an event click the “Add Event” button on the bottom of the page.
Keep in mind the integration is new and is not yet “fully featured”. You can add and delete events from the Calendar page, but you cannot currently edit events or create/delete event via service call. It is mostly limited to use as a trigger or condition at this point.
Yeah, you are definitely stuck in this “I have to install stuff” paradigm…
Unless you are trying to get any custom stuff integrated then everything you need for anything else is already installed and just has to be configured.
Yaml is necessary in some integrations, that’s true. But the docs will tell you if the integration is configured via the UI or needs a yaml configuration.
If you can configure the integration thru the UI then yaml is (almost…) never required. I say “almost” because there are a couple of integrations that require a small amount of yaml config for some advanced options. But the vast majority of UI configured integrations can be completely configured thru the UI.
You should have started using HA years ago…
I started this year and love the challenge of trying to make something work where i have no technical experience in any of this. It has come so far in 1 year in making things 100 times better for users like myself. The UI for me is near perfect, i have 1 integration i cant seem to get to work but thats a HACS… ALso stay away from HACS if this frustrates you .
Sometimes you just need to walk away from what you are trying to do and come back to it in a few days
Anyway, persistance pays off
