By current I meant new one. Thank you for pointing it out.
The whole discussion is about including cloud and forced encryption to the core.
I propose to move this very functionality to an extension.

I can see this thread is no different from the usual. Lets play nice please.
Playing nice in different countries means different things. Just saying.
Not everybody wants to use a supervised installation.
I’m running my three instances as home assistant containers for my reasons that i don’t want to elaborate here. But i would be excluded from the new backup system, when the developers would follow your suggestion.
I understand.
But you consciously decided to go without a supervisor. This way you decided that you will get no features that don’t belong to the core.
BTW this way your HA is already stripped of built-in backups (I mean those ones available for a long time). Isn’t it?
Yes, i decided to go that route. But the new backup system will belong to the core and i appreciate that, as it opens new options .
No, i’m not stripped of the built-in backups. I can call this builtin backup by calling the action backup.create, as written before.
I can now also use the new backup system, if i want to use it, by configuring the automatic backup system and i’m testing it already on one of my systems.
I can make a backup by triggering the backup from Settings->System->Backup and push the “+Backup Now” button in the lower right corner.
In either case i will get an encrypted backup on the local file system.
An option to restore a backup is still missing and i would have to do it manually.
My fault then. For some reason I was thinking it’s the supervisor’s feature.
Some people hallucinate opinions so easily, one has to wonder how few billion parameters they’re running.
You can (at least you should) vote for your feature request!
Maybe they are not convinced themselves about it…
I’m convinced enough about system modularity.
I’m not convinced that number of votes influences anything.
The fact that key backup functionality is built-in doesn’t change that. At least schedulling, encrypting should be independent.
BTW I’m not a creator of this thread (Petro did that), this is why I wasn’t aware enough about vote option.
