Wiegand reader issues -- what am I doing wrong?

I’ve been trying for the better part of a week to get a Wiegand RFID reader to properly work in ESPHome. When I scan the tags I get an error: Image 2023-10-18 at 7.19.27 PM. I thought at first it was the tag or the reader so I swapped it out and still, same issue.

I’m not sure if it’s my wiring, yaml or what. The green is connected to d0, white to d1. I’ve tried with and without a ground to the board and that does nothing. Here is my yaml: Image 2023-10-18 at 7.20.06 PM.

I thought upon scan of the tag it would show the tag number, so either I’m mistaken that this isn’t an error and just what shows up and I need to connect it to HA to work, or it’s definitely not setup correctly.

Any ideas wtf I’m doing wrong??
