WTH can't we have conditions in sensor templates?

We now have triggers in sensor templates, this alleviated a lot of automatons used only to update sensor states, this was a huge improvement. But it would be even better if we could have the conditions also to limit the triggers in sensor templastes.

We can add variables to triggers for template sensors (or even automations). But why can’t we attach a condition to the trigger so that it doesn’t update our template entity?
