When I change the entity ID on the settings tab from a card on the dashboard and save it the card doesn’t pick up the new ID. Instead it shows me “Entity unavailable” and I have to get back into the card to change it to the new entity ID.

Maybe it is too much to ask and hope for. If the entity ID is changes by the user, then HA in background changes the entity ID in the GUI card used.
This way one need only to make the change one place, and the GUI (and maybe yaml-files also) is auto updated with the new entity ID.
From an entities card I click on an entity. I then go to settings and change the entity ID. When I press update and return to the dashboard the entity on the card that I just changed is unavailable. It would be nice if I change it from the card that the card would pick up the new ID.
Closing his as a duplicate of WTH is there no "refactor" functionality when changing an entity name?
