Yep, once I moved the server to the same subnet where my Xiaomi hub was sitting, everythin started working. I did not dig any deeper but I think Xiaomi device always replies with multicast and if your HA server is in a different subnet - the server must ‘join’ multicast group so the traffic could be sent to the server (by a router).
