I just changed from a RazBerry hat to an Everspring SA370-2 700 series USB controller and all I had to do was an NVM backup and restore in Z2M console. I made the backup in Z2M, then reconfigured it using the path of the new USB stick. Restored the NVM, then restarted the add-on. I was told “If all goes well, everything will be the same”…Ha! But it was far less work than unpairing/repairing. I had to do some cleanup chores like changing “show as” from Any to Motion, etc., etc. You can read through my topic here and also the link in post #25 referring to an issue I had with the SA370-2: Issues · kpine/zwave-js-server-docker · GitHub
I think you will have to rely on system backup/restore if you need or want to return to the original setup.
