ZBT-1 and battery temperature sensors

I have a ZBT-1 but apparently nothing I own today is Matter or Zigbee capable, so new to it.
I would like to find some inexpensive battery operated temperature sensors to put in an attic and ceiling where I don’t have outlets available.

I saw some discussion about “SONOFF SNZB-02P Zigbee Temperature Humidity Sensor” and the Amazon listing says that it needs a Zigbee hub 3.0

Will the ZBT-1 act as this hub, or does it still need the hub to communicate to?

Or other battery operated temperature sensors that will work with it you recommend?

Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 - Home Assistant should answer your question. Spoiler, ZBT-1 and Home Assistant are a Zigbee 3.0 hub. You would also need ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT installed in Home Assistant.

I personally use Aqara Temperature/Humidity sensors, the small round ones, they last over a year on 1 coincell battery, they work perfectly with ZHA or zigbee2mqtt with any adapter

Thanks, that got me started in the right direction

Appreciate your suggestion. I put Aqara on my wish list
