I have HomeAssistant running in a Docker container on Ubuntu 20.04. I am trying to connect it to a Tuya ZigBee Wireless Smart Gateway 3.0.
Both Ubuntu and the Tuya ZigBee Gateway are on the same network.
When I try to add the ZigBee Home Automation integration it asks me to pick a radio type. I don’t know what radio type the Tuya uses.
This suggests to me that HomeAssistant isn’t seeing the Tuya for some reason. Is that probably the case? Have I missed a fundamental step here that is preventing HA from connecting to the Tuya? (The Tuya is working fine using the SmartLife app on Android).
By defalut the tuya gateway is just a tuya product and is a “locked down” vendor specific device. To use the it with the ZHA integration in HA you need to do some hacking and root it. I don’t have a link available but have seen some github posts about doing this I don’t think it is at a point that is an easy process yet.
I believe you could use the tuya integration, or you’d need a supported zigbee controller not a “locked down” vendor gateway.
Thanks for that. Not the answer I was hoping for but at least I understand the problem now. Have you got any suggestions for a type/brand of ZigBee controller that would be suitable (preferably router connected)?
Also am I going to have the same problem with Tuya ZigBee devices like sensors etc.?
Thanks both. I’ve maybe jumped the gun a bit here and ordered a USB ZigBee controller that claims to be pre-flashed with Home Assistant suitable firmware. If that doesn’t work I may well be back for tube0013’s offering. (I’m in the UK, would you ship to there)?
Tube0013 i like to buy a EFR32 Pro Ethernet/Serial Coordinator please im from Australia urgently please i have mainly wemo light bulbs around 45 to control … in the past with HA i had used the wemo hubs upto 4 but still had drop outs then i tried smartthings and as i used the Ethernet no drop outs unless power stopped or cloud disconnect … i want to use HA directly with LAN connection not usb but use HA to pair and control please …
Regards Maz …
I have a waiting list linked on the front page of the store (current wait time is a day or less). I have PoE and Non-PoE (powered by micro USB) models.
I ship from the US. I use a shipping service for international shipments. 1 (or 2-3) items is $14. takes 1-3+ weeks for deliver. Express is available too for $55 and I refund the difference once I pay for the shippment.
Payment is through my store site tubeszb.com - payment is through Square processing Visa/MC/AMEX/Discover. I can do paypal as well, but will require a $3.00 processing fee there.
