Although there is a Tuya integration, this forum is geared to those running Home Assistant. That being said, some general zigbee thoughts are:
As far as distance if the garage is more then 15 meters/50 feet away you’ll likely have issues, that’s about the distance zigbee will work reliably.
As far as interference, I don’t know if you can change the zigbee channel on that tuya router. You should be able to change the channel for your 2.4ghz wifi easily in your router’s settings. If it’s a neighbor’s wifi causing interference, you might need to get zigbee2mqtt which I know for sure let’s you change the channel on the zigbee network
It’s not usually recommended, but you can try and pair the device closer together, then move it to it’s final location and see if it works.
Yes sorry for is Tuya (by now) but the idea is moving to HA… but RPI too expensive and no stock… NUC computer expensive as well… And no useless computer I can use… So for now Tuya yes…
15m? well that’s strange… I have working with difficult about 15m maybe more… I put the repeaters around 8-10m from each other
About Chanel… I cant change the on HUB… but I sure can change on Operator Router…
What you think about I place the mini usb repeater on garage box controller ? and maybe the switch meter can reach better (half way from door and hub)
