I am an IT and hardware enthousiast.
I have built my own domotics system about 20 years ago based on microcontrollers, an rs485 network and a linux computer running a central server to drive relais, dimmers and read some sensors (motion detectors).
Today, I think it’s time to upgrade that system with a new one. Now, there’s no need anymore to build one myself as there are enough good open source systems available.
As such I am evaluating Home Assistant as a potential replacement.
The biggest challenge will be to define a smooth, non-disruptive, migration roadmap.
