I’m an experienced programmer with …over 40 years of experience. My home automation system includes X-10, Z-wave, Zigbee, iHome, and a variety of homebrew devices and sensors integrated using MQTT. I’m creating my own X-10 to mqtt engine to replace a hacked-up mess with a custom plugin connecting over REST to another light controller that called heyu that I created when I started with Home Assistant. I have experience sending and receiving MQTT messages in both microcontrollers as well as other daemons. I run my own weather station that reports data to MQTT over Home Assistant as well as archiving the data in a PostgreSQL database.
