45 year plus career in Electrical Power Industry including power utilities, SCADA/EMS system implementation, industry reform and un-bundling, electricity market implementation and operation, independent power system operations.
I have had a long time interest in improvement of electricity production and utilisation efficiency including integration of renewables (solar, wind, etc.) and enabling technologies such as energy storage to ensure power system security and reliability are maintained.
I confess to being a Home Assistant newbie with a long learning curve ahead, but HA can provide home automation that enhances quality of life, but also appears to have the capacity be a central element in improving home energy control and management. Hence I am attempting to gain the skills needed to use HA as a platform to monitor, control and manage my home resources including my solar panels, appliances, and future battery storage to improve the efficiency of my home electricity consumption and production without leaving a trail of economic externalities for electricity grid operators to pick up the tab. This could also be fun along the way.
