I had asked on discord, no one could help there, and I saw that even more had the same problem so hence I went back to 107.7,
at 10 o’clock in the morning everything was still working and at 4 o’clock it stopped working.
I am waiting for the modbus to work again with an upgrade without any problems.
Same for me… but only for cards that are embeded into custom stack cards. Cards that are top level behaves correctly. Perhaps it is linked to changes introduced to cards design in 0.107, also causing some issues with stack cards?
yes my comment was in no way meant to offend you. It is that i hoped 108.3 update has brought some good news. thats why disappointed ! have rolled back to 107.7 multiple times in last three days. u guys are doing an awesome job ! believe me i want to help but coding is not everybody’s cup of tea. please take ur time. I’ll stay with earlier version for time being.
That’s silly, the YAML configuration is quite well documented or nobody would ever be able to get it off the ground (unlike a GUI).
Honestly, your comment is insulting to the hundreds of volunteers that have spent countless hours improving the documentation.
And that’s insulting to those who spend time improving the GUI.
I know you tried to be funny but adding a smiley is not a BS free card. Constructive criticism is great, however your comment offers no advice except maybe to stop working so nothing changes.
I can confirm that there is a bug in HA 108+ and Broadlink. I have multiple RF sockets and all on/off commands that are over 1000 chars long wont work anymore while commands under 1000 chars still do. Not sure why some RF commands are longer then others, but that’s the case.
I’ve also noticed that sweeping RF in HA only gives me AAAAAAA back, but that may or may not be related.
@Mutt Appreciate the effort, but yes that is effectively the same thing (and actually how mine is implemented even prior to the issue) … I’ve been using the workaround method from GitHub that @Canedje posted previously.
You are a great contributor and an amazing contributor.
For which I thank you greatly for your efforts.
I noticed this from reading your profile.
In no way did I mean to imply any condemnation of any contributors.
A project of this size when undertaken by an organisation that pays is an enormous task, for a largely volunteer organisation with members spread all across the world it it enormous squared.
From reading mine you will see I spend a significant amount of time on this forum helping newbies trying to find things in the ‘manual’ as you call it.
Yaml is generally well documented but our (HA) implementation of same is a little more niche. And given your statement then the forum would be redundant, I gather you agree it’s not so there is a gap between the two positions. As is usually the case, with the truth lying somewhere between.
I understand the need to widen the user base and I understand that most new users prefer the gui approach. And I understand it takes time to get from where we were 2 years ago to where we will be when the gui is ‘stable’ and fully integrated.
In the interim I find the dichotomy funny. And I’m pretty sure you recognise that position too.
Until we (HA) achieve that stability there will always be room for improvement (rather than just maintenance) in the documentation. And in the interim I will provide what help I can to fill that gap, doing so relieves more talented individuals to answer the bigger questions and that again relieves the devs to do dev work.
I also received enormous help when I started and I both recognise that help and try to pay it back.
You will notice that I refer to HA as ‘we’ because ‘I’ feel part of the community of HA.
I have never interacted with you before and given this I don’t feel I will again.
BTW I still find the contention of having a manual hilarious
No emoji added as I didn’t want to try to sway your opinion.
