2 almost identical automations - 1 not triggered

Hi all,

I have two automation’s triggered by the same action(sunset), the difference is that one has a presence condition. The first one(wo condition) is always triggered, and the second one, just from time to time, actually it was just once :thinking: . Any idea why or how can I troubleshot this one? Are there some automation logs?

You can look in Logbook, or the history of each automation, or in home-assistant.log (especially if you enable some debug), …

If you’d like to post the automations here someone might be able to spot something wrong. Don’t forget to format properly.

Lastly, make sure the automation that is not running when you expect is on.

I have some good experience with hass, so all what you said it is common sens. :slight_smile: All seems to be fine regardless what I try or check, but no trigger.

OK, I managed to make it work. But there is something with my automation editor.

  • I removed the condition, all was fine, so the issue was there.
  • I changed it to different state conditions, nothing. So as soon as I added a condition, that peticular automation did not work anymore.
  • OK, than I edited the automation by hand in ssh. Guess what, all works fine!
    And when I say edited, I meant nothing was changed. Added a character, Ctrl+O, deleted the character, Ctrl+O. And restarted the hass.
