2023.12: Welcome home!

you need to file an issue in the repo with logs.

It (probably) is not related to this release.

as for Unifi Protect: nothing amiss here, and updated to the latest firmware

So… Any ETA on when the year of The Pipewire or whatever year that makes it easy to use a sound card comes? It would very helpful to try out those advances made during that other schizophrenic year with the voices :kissing_smiling_eyes:.

That way there’s no need to rely on slow, networked, disposable smart speakers, out-of-sync media-interrupting DLNA… the works.

Thanks for the update to the Thermostat Card guys, was waiting for that. Great update.

The update from 2023.12.x to 2023.12.3 did not succeed for my instance. Non of the integrations were loaded :frowning:
Logs had errors, but these were related to the integrations not being loaded, I did not find any useful log entry for the main problem and I had to restore a back-up.

Happens to me last several major updates: none integration is loaded (incl. Sun). Usually “fix” it by HA reboot, last time needed even two reboots ))).

Yeah me too.

Thanks for fixing the potential security issue showing user profiles on the login screen. How does one switch beween a regular login screen and a profile logon screen?

Switch?

It has been removed.

2023.12.3 brought back all not_home device_tracker on Unifi! thanks @Kane610 @Robban

this is new to me in 2023.12 (I think, and not .3 related, saw it earlier)

lot of messages about Skyconnect and things like

The above exception was the direct cause of the following exception:

my few devices do seem to work properly though…

Oh, thought it was made optional and that one could choose between profile or manual login

This was solved after a failed backup restore, (yep, i’m still on 2023.12.3 and all works) I guess a few reboots would have solved the problem? I think the “Global task timeout” has to do with RPI3 1GB RAM, sometimes I have to reboot manually after an update because the RAM is saturated and the RPI3 is stuck. I ordered a RPI5 which should be delivered in one month, hopefully RPI5 support will be out of beta at this time.
Home Assistant has become pretty solid, there were times in the past I had to re-flash home assistant and restore a backup after these type of crashes. :grinning:

Thanks for the feedback!

Of course, and well deserved, really love the support you give us on the integration.

Thank you for those kind words

I only notice now, is this new to 2023.12:

no more numeric indicator of color temp? didnt we use see to see that when click/hiding the 59% at the top there to make it change for a moment?

Currently the only way to reveal a Kelvin value is by actually sliding the slider, which makes it impossible to see where it was before sliding.

so we are forced to go into dev tools states to see…?

Yes that is indeed not very nice, but it was also previously very confusing: I never understood why brightness is displayed when switching to Kelvin for example. Is it anyhow possible to display Kelvin when switching to Kelvin?

id say this is a bug and will file an issue if not already there, wasnt able to find it yet.
we had the old issue but it was slightly different Lights' color-temperature slider indicates brightness rather than color temperature when idle · Issue #17870 · home-assistant/frontend · GitHub and now closed.
So ill pick it up from there: no way to see color_temp value anymore in UI (except when sliding) · Issue #19066 · home-assistant/frontend · GitHub

my favorite color 0…

why not pop up there with the actual brightness/xolor_temp setting instead of a list index number…

Looks it was changed purposely to only use the slider for color temp
