Ive look around a bit and cant see much on this. Are there many/ any solutions to have a Pet water fountain in Home Assistant?

A friend ordered one, so don’t know.
I think they used something like Tuya Local for it.

I would buy the dumbest water fountain I could find, then add a couple of things to make it smart myself.
- Smart plug to turn on/off the fountain
- Motion sensor (ideally with configurable range/sensitivity) to trigger when the pet gets close.
The rest is a simple automation which only triggers when your pet is in the vicinity:
When: motion sensor state goes to detected
Then: Turn on smart plug for 5 minutes
This makes it easier to replace your fountain if it should ever fail, without having to change your automation.

Does it work reasonably well? I am interested in getting one for my dogs. However, it says that it is for “Ddog” not for “dog” like I have 
It’s backwards compatible, meaning it will work for both the updated Ddog and the regular dog version like you have.
