2025 Alarm system recommendation?

Hey folks,

I’m looking for an alarm system that:

  • integrates easily into HA for status monitoring
  • is able to be controlled by HA (physical keypad is a bonus)
  • has a physical alarm ringer (the box that goes beep when bad guys come in)

Any recommendations?

Talking about the European region. Also, ring and similar online systems are out of the question for sure, this thing needs to be fully local.

I use the HACs custom component Alarmo, motion sensors, door and window sensors, a zwave siren and automations. Good blueprint to send notification and clip to phone is one of the automations . Can use it from my phone or desktop but also by my tablet beside the front door. I’m not sure I would want a physical device if I was having a tablet by the door anyway.

A Lupus XT1 Plus for smaller installations or a XT2 for larger ones gets you a real DIY cloudless alarm system.

Point 1: :white_check_mark:
There is the Lupusec2Mqtt add-on that includes this systems to HA: GitHub - CyberDNS/Lupusec2Mqtt: Lupusec Alarm System to Mqtt

Point 2:
“be controlled by HA” is from the security-view a bad thing. I wouldn’t do such a thing.

Point 3: :white_check_mark:
Included with the option to get additional external and internal sirens.

Hmm, I thought about that one, and the idea was that some clients just won’t want to be bothered by typing in a pin code every time, and would instead like for the alarm to be disabled once their ibeacon is detected at home, hence the need to disable/enable the alarm based on HA parameters (ibeacon presence).

My main request is sirens, do you have any recommendations there?

To fully circle back, I’m perfectly fine with alarmo, so the only thing I’m really looking for is an HA controllable siren. I don’t want to depend on the smart audio system to reproduce alarm sounds when alarmo is triggered.

I use this siren by Dome: Dome Home Automation DMS01… Amazon.com : Dome Home Automation Wireless Z-Wave Battery-Powered Home Security Siren and Chime, : Electronics and it’s been great. Works with HA through Zwave just fine.

Lupus has a “alarm” integrated in the control box. But that is really just a notification.

The System has 2 types of sirens: Outdoor Siren or Indoor Siren

Automatic deactivation is a often wanted feature - It has a big security concern, as every intruder can deactivate the alarm system by just finding or stealing the ibeacon.

I would go for pin and token - I know it is pain in the begining, but you get used to it. There is a keypad with both possibilities LUPUSEC - Outdoor Keypad V2

The arm/disarm may be done by app, too.

You may activate any siren, usable in Home Assistant with a automation checking for an alarm.

https://konnected.io/ does a kit to retrofit existing alarm systems that can be managed by HA. It also has an interface to use an existing keypad Konnected Alarm Panel Interface Module
