I read through every reply, I sincerely appreciate everyone who has chimed in thus far.
First, I’d like to ask everyone to remember that we’ve postponed this decision to ensure we can address a few things. We do hear you in that we’ve gone about this wrong.
Next, I’d like to remind everyone to stay on topic - talking about things not in this beta is simply not on topic, and it’s already been asked of you. Please utilize the “reply as a topic” button for this. Aron has already spun up a new thread for the entity naming changes, I linked to it below.
Is there somewhere that us as users can go to help be a part of these proposals or discussions related to items on the roadmap?
Yes! All of our roadmap discussions are on GitHub. You can find the item specific to the entity changes on the roadmap here and the architecture proposal here. If you would like to weigh in further on the roadmap proposal, please do - that is the appropriate space to do so.
The main point I want to get across before you chime in on the Issue is you will still be able to name things the way you see fit - that was never changing. We saw several people concerned about the change in Discord do the update and had nothing wrong with their custom setups. Until we share what the plans will be for the future implementation of this change, everything is now in its hypothetical stage.
I ask that you all wait to share your very valid concerns for when our new plans are published, where I will then ask people to please install the changes before offering feedback.

We do read these types of threads even if we are not responding.
I still don’t get why the developers seem to always think that they know better than the users what’s best for those users systems.
I understand this frustration, I really do.
I recognize and acknowledge that we’ve made a ton of changes over the past, let’s say, 6 months that have impacted long time users. Next week during the State of the Open Home we will talk more about how we are changing the way we build and implement features. I encourage everyone to tune in to get some details around that, but know we will also publish a blog that will go more into those details as well. When that happens, you will be more than welcome to drop feedback into the blog thread. A key thing for the changes: there is no more “year of” style roadmapping. I genuinely look forward to your thoughts on things once they are shared, but you can see the way we are shifting things right now in the Roadmap GitHub repo.
Change is difficult for everyone, that’s just a fact. Does anyone remember the way it was before the UI? There was also, what we affectionately call, YAMLGate at one point. It’s just not only developers who make the changes anymore, though, and please trust when I say that everyone at the foundation is open to feedback after we make unpopular changes. The Home page has been consistently iterated on after we’ve released it, though I don’t have any news on the left pane customizations it’s something we will be working on, and this beta cycle has shown that we are willing to pull back something when we hear things can be improved for how it was announced/implemented.

But we also cannot make everyone happy, despite our best efforts. We do have newer users who want things simplified (they tend to post in Discord), we also have research that helps us with direction (something I keep pushing for us to publish, and is still in the plans to). Disagreeing with direction is more than welcome, but that also doesn’t mean we will stop changes because there are disagreements. We are indeed an open source project - spinning off your own version to maintain is not only allowed, we think it’d be really cool to see! The users in China need to do this due to the nature of how they access things on the internet, and we think this is really neat. I do understand that me saying this is going to cause people to have a very visceral reaction - but this is built open source not only so anyone can contribute to its development but also take the work and make it their own.
Before I close this off, I do want to say a hearty thank you to you all who dropped in your feedback around this beta release. 
It genuinely contributed to the direction we were taking for 2026.4, and we will work to address a few things before proposing the full transition again. Something I am hoping I ensure we do is a full blog post dedicated to this change - I agree that the communication around the change can be improved, dedicating an entire blog to it will help us be more clear about how this impacts people and hopefully allow us to share some solutions people in Discord worked on to make the changes less painful for some impacted.
There are a ton of other changes this beta that you still have time to test, like the MASSIVE amount of triggers and conditions added to the purpose-specific automations in Labs, and we’re implementing IR into Home Assistant directly. Highly suggest you update to b5 that rolled out today and let us know how things are working for you now that the entity naming changes were reverted.
