i would like to start home automation with Hass.io and I’ve got a few questions.
I would like to integrate different types of hardware (Hue, Tradfi, Xiaomi) but want it to be completely “local” with no external server required. I own a Hue hub with a few lights.
I have a rPi 3+ at home and would just start with it as a Server.
Is it worth using a solution like zigbee2mqtt for all devices, or does it make sense to use the hue hub (i already have) for the hue devices and maybe a zigbee2mqtt stick for Xiaomi and the Ikea devices (i dont’t own yet)
I have a few 433Mhz devices at home. Is there an easy way to control them or get readings (temperature) from these devices?
I would like to have a wall mounted touch screen /tablet. Is there any proven device that you could recommend?
One problem with zigbee2mqtt is that it has a maximum of 15 client devices. So I would continue with the hurry hub for hue bulbs and zigbee2mqtt for the others.
I would look at the sonoff RF bridge for 433 MHz devices. But there are plenty of home brew solutions too.
Any Android tablet. But try to look for something with a more recent version of Android. There are whole threads of recommendations in this forum.
In that case I’ll have 2 separate zigbee networks, rights? Could that be a disadvantage if most of the Xiaomi/Ikea devises are end points and not routers? (Sensors, Buttons, …).
If I would use alle devices with zigbee2mqtt: Would I have 1 mesh network? And would the hue lights act as router for all devices (Hue, IKEA, Xiaomi)?
If 15 is the maximum: How do other people get around this. It seems to be a quite popular solution und I assume most people use more than 15 client devices…
