I’ve made a simple sensor for Syncthing, if anyone is looking.
And I plan to use Syncthing as the secure & encrypted transport layer for my whole setup
I think it has the potential to be the straightforward, go-to, easy to maintain solution to many of IoT’s privacy problems and external control concerns.
edit:
Almost forgot, in passing, Syncthing also provides an ideal secure, encrypted way to transmit bulk data such as security-camera stills & footage - and anything you like really:
-
Trigger a remote (multi-device) back-up with the flick of a Hass switch
-
Plot the course of a lost device on Hass’ map via Syncthing’s IP or any method of data gathering that can be passed as a file via Syncthing
-
Combine any and all your Hass things with any and all of your file things - anywhere without anyone else. All your devices will re-find each other no matter where they are placed. They just need the net (and your own discovery server, if you’re running all in-house)
What do you think?
