A water sensor in our water well

Hi there,

My text is translated from Dutch to English by chatGPT, excuses me for my bad English.

My question:

Does anyone have a good approach: we have a water well in the garden that is about 8 meters deep. A PVC pipe with a diameter of 65 millimeters extends above ground level.

I would like to lower a float with a sensor into the PVC pipe so that I can read the water level in my water well within Home Assistant.

Are there floats with sensors for this? For example, like an old-fashioned sensor in a fuel tank. Or would I need to build a sensor myself?

How can I ensure the signal is picked up above ground (from 6 meters underground)? For example, by placing a Zigbee mesh light at the top of the pipe?

I would love to hear all your creative ideas and hopefully solutions.

Have a nice day!

Hi,

don’t know if it applies to your case but ultrasonic sensor and esphome can be a solution if you like to do it yourself.

Thank you. Smart, the same sensor that measures depth under a ship.

yes like that

And…i found this

Ik heb dit zojuist gevonden op AliExpress:
€60,69 | Ultrasone Vloeistofniveausensor Watertank Vloeistofdieptemeter Monitor Automatische Pomp Watertoevoeging Niveaumeter
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EyA6xeo

Now i have some directions to think.

Another approach is a pressure sensor. I use that for my hot tub.

Something like this: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005004979445473.html?src=google

I have it connected to a 0-10V smart Zwave device, but it can go with a lot of different formats.

In my case, it showed to be very reliable, and that matters the most for me

Also interesting, and you think that this is accurate enough?

0,5 % FS. That is 4cm on the 8m version.

Indeed, that right. Its nearly nothing.

Oh kan ook in het Nederlands aan jou zie ik.
