Does anyone have a good approach: we have a water well in the garden that is about 8 meters deep. A PVC pipe with a diameter of 65 millimeters extends above ground level.

I would like to lower a float with a sensor into the PVC pipe so that I can read the water level in my water well within Home Assistant.

Are there floats with sensors for this? For example, like an old-fashioned sensor in a fuel tank. Or would I need to build a sensor myself?

How can I ensure the signal is picked up above ground (from 6 meters underground)? For example, by placing a Zigbee mesh light at the top of the pipe?

don’t know if it applies to your case but ultrasonic sensor and esphome can be a solution if you like to do it yourself.

Another approach is a pressure sensor. I use that for my hot tub.

I have it connected to a 0-10V smart Zwave device, but it can go with a lot of different formats.

In my case, it showed to be very reliable, and that matters the most for me :wink:
