Aarlo needing Access Rights

Just wanted to share something I managed to figure out in case anyone else runs into the same thing with Aarlo setup.

A few months ago the camera cards stopped displaying the most recent snapshot. I thought it was something to do with TFA and spent all day on this, testing with different setups, usernames, emails, etc and was about to remove Aarlo which USED to work fine for me. No errors were coming up HA, so I thought the configuration itself was fine. Then I noticed even though the last image was just a broken grey window instead of showing the first frame of the most recent recording, I could click on the recent clips button at the bottom of the custom aarlo card and I was able to access and play current recordings. Clearly the auth is not the problem.

I managed to fix it by logging into the Arlo website and changing a setting, nothing needed to be done in HA. I have a separate Arlo username for Home Assistant to use so it isn’t using my primary login info. Arlo lets you grant access to a neighbor/friend/etc if you’re trying to share or have them watch over your place while you’re away. I tested logging into the Arlo website with that username and it logged in just fine, but was oddly telling me all the cameras were offline (yet they work with the primary Arlo login) Well there’s a setting that got added into Arlo a while back that didn’t used to be there called “Allow Access Rights”. Log into Arlo with your primary username, click on Grant Access and toggle Allow Access Rights under your secondary username. Reboot HA and the recent snapshot is now showing like it used to. Hopefully this helps someone out there running into the same thing.
