Ability to See Homekit Devices in Home Assistant

I have a very simple question about the integration of Home Assistant within an Apple ecosystem.

I use the Homekit Bridge integration and this works great at reflecting all my non-Homekit devices into Apple’s HomeKit, so I can use SIRI to control them. However, I also have devices that are “Works with Homekit” compatible that are directly registered in Homekit, but unfortunately these are not visbile in HA. So, is the Homekit Bridge simply a one-way integration (HA devices/entities visible in HomeKit, but not vice versa) ?

I did find an integration called Homekit Device, but its documentation suggests that for HomeKit devices to be visible in HA, they need to be decoupled from Apple’s Home application and somehow registered directly in HA. (I did try this, but was unsuccessful with an error telling me the device was already ‘paired’ with something else.) Ideally, I’d simply like my directly-registered HomeKit devices to show up in HA. Is this possible?

Unpair your device from Apple Home after pairing it. It will immediately appear as a device you can pair to Home Assistant Homekit Devices. You can then export it back to homekit if you wish.

Homekit devices can only be paired with one thing at a time - you want that to be home assistant not homekit.

As already mentioned you need to add this devices to home assistant

Yea, but this instructions say that the device needs to be decoupled from HomeKit first. When I tried that, while HA discovered it, it wouldn’t pair with it because it claimed the sensor was already paired (with something, but no idea what).

Seriously, is there no integration that mimics HomeKit Bridge, but in the other direction?

Tried that twice. And yes, HA discovers it, but won’t pair with it using the code, because it claims its already paired. (No idea with what, though.)

What device are we talking about here? Perhaps a device reboot (not factory reset) is in order. Perhaps there is a manufacturer app involved? What device?

It’s an Onvis Smart Motion Sensor (Outdoor), model - SMS2-OD. It’s suppose to be Matter-compliant, as well as HomeKit ready.

The only button on (inside) the device is a reset, and if I press that it goes back to factory settings, so it looses the thread plot.

My preferred Thread network is the one that shows my three Homepod Minis, so I know HA and Apple are all on the same Thread network.

If it is matter-compliant then you should be able to get a matter pairing code while it’s connected to homekit. If not, try pulling the battery after removing it from homekit. Then when you power it up hopefully it will show in HA and be pairable.

I had an Eve Room (homekit over thread) that was not pairing to HA and after waiting a while it worked - don’t know if the thread network took time to work out routing or something? I hope you figure it out but I don’t have any other suggestions.
