I need to install a new home security system and I’m currently considering Abode, SimpliSafe and Boundary. Boundary seems to be a relative newcomer and I can’t see any HA integration, so realistically I think it’s out of the running which being UK-based is a shame as it seems to be a UK company, whereas the other two have superior offerings for US customers.
Abode would be the front-runner if only for the tighter HA integration, but its Android app seems to be getting panned in Play store reviews.
I was hoping I might get first-hand experience here from Abode users before I commit. I don’t currently have control of HA outside my home network so would want to rely on the security supplier’s app to some extent.
Any opinions and experiences would be awesome. Thank you.
I didn’t, but went with Abode anyway in the end. So far it’s been trouble free, and straightforward to integrate with HA. No problems with the Abode app although we only use it to arm and disarm manually via its widget.

So with abode you’re seeing the sensor statuses fine and able to create automations from them?
Yes, that’s right. I can display the history of devices, e.g. when the front door has been open, and also create automations, e.g. use HA to send me a phone notification when the house is empty but the alarm hasn’t been set. I have the most basic Abode package for about £3.50/month, which allows remote setting of the alarm via the app but doesn’t give automation (what they call cues, I think) - I let HA do that.
