Hi,
Still trying to find my way around just about everything, so please be patient!
I have just set up Home Assistant and am trying to include the Lightwave integration.
I have installed the VS editor and added one switch to configuration.yaml as per the example shown when you call up Lightwave integration.
Is that ALL I need to do??
The device does not seem to appear but neither do get any error messages.
Can someone help me get to grips with the basics here. As a newby there is obviously something missing - it seems too simple.
Thanks in advance.
If you change something in configuration.yaml you need to restart home assistant to new config take effect. But check configuration first to see if there are some errors in config file.
If there is don’t restart it because it probably wont show up
Thanks Daniel.
That worked.
As a matter of interest can you restart HA via the dashboard interface or is it a case of powering the box off and back on (which I did this time)?
No, don’t do that. What you done was system reboot.
To restart home assistant go to developer tools → Check and restart.
This one
Before restarting hit check configuration. If you have some errors in config files it will write it, so you can fix it before restarting.
You have been lucky. if you made any mistake in configuration.yaml and rebooted comp ha will not start. It’s easy repairable by removing wrong code from configuration.yaml but never the less…
Phew! Thanks Daniel. I thought there must be a software restart but I just couldn’t find it. I shall get used to this in time!
You can also go into settings and click the 3 dots in top right to restart. Also HA will not restart if there is a mistake in the config, but always best to check.
