Accesibility for hard of hearing

Hello,

I m trying to find some noise sensor with either zigbee or zwave, so when the doorbell rings it sends me info of state (so i can automate it and the lights of my house blinks).
Thing is i cannot find any noise sensor… could you help me find a solution please?
Doorbell is communitary ( i live in a building complex) so i cannot change it

Hi Miki, welcome to the forum!

I think this might be the solution for you: a vibration sensor that you stick to your existing doorbell.
Have a look at this topic: Easiest way to make a dumb doorbell smart (no programming, no soldering, no tinkering)!

Nice one, @Nick4. I thought about this overnight and also wondered about vibration or contact sensors as they would probably be more reliable than a sound detector.

@Miki2

  • Can you describe the bell? Is it a (for example) traditional hammer-and-bell or electric speaker or something else?
  • Whilst you can’t interfere with it electrically, can you take the casing off?
  • Is the bell itself in your apartment or in a shared hallway?

Hello!
I bought 2 aqara vibration sensor, will get them tomorrow and will test them.
The bell is like this:

It uses a 2 cable system i think. I can take the casing off no problem.

(https://www.fermax.com/.doc-download?type=handbook&slug=970175c-telefono-veo-duox-plus-esp-eng-fr-de-po&lang=es) manual here.

(sorry its in spanish).

Im planning in the future to change it for a wifi one from the same company (has to be the same system because it pairs with the one in the entrance of complex).

I want also to add i have another doorbell in my door, probably is mechanical, but this one is not that important since the fermax telephone will ring first always.

let us know how it goes! …does that phone vibrate when it rings?

Not much, but is kinda loud, i will try to place sensor just next to the speaker and hopefully will trigger it

Unfortunately doesnt work.
Any ideas?

the only thing I can think of is a device to detect current in the bell wire itself, but not sure how to do that myself.
