Access HA OS on VMWare Workstation through IP address from other PC

Just installed Home Assistant OS on VMWare Workstation on a Windows 11 PC. I have set Network adapter to “Bridged (Automatic)” per the instructions, which according to a lot of articles on the Internet should give HA a IP from my DHCP server/router (Ubiquiti Dream Machine). BUT HA gets the address 172.30.129.123 (confirmed using “network info” in HA and by pinging it) instead of an address from the DHCP scope 192.168.1.x. The router does not show the HA VM in it’s DHCP list.

It works great to access HA through http://homeassistant.local:8123 or 172.30.129.123:8123 on the same Windows 11 PC, but of course I can’t find it from any other machine on the network, not another PC, nor my Hubitat.

Is there anything wrong with the HA setup (like using a weird static IP)? Or have I misunderstood how the network bridging in VMWare Workstation works? And how can I fix it?

For anyone finding this: ”simply” swItching to NAT instead of bridged network in VMWare solved the problem. I had to port forward the HA port to the VM of course.
