There shall be an easy (at least easier than now) way to get access to the files of the backup dir by scripts like sh, bash or Node RED. It is a common task for everyone using HA to clean up time to time the backup files generated during updates. This task shall be automated as easy as purging old Auto Backup files (set for n days) - either by an built-in functionality or by letting access the files in the backup folder by scripts and/or automation.
EDIT:
- Actually purge shall do (optional) also this task. It is what purge is for.
- Please remember: currently we have purge functionality only for Auto Backup, not for “normal” backup.
