I fear this might be a foolish question, but I’m trying to get HA to write data to a file I can read into an Excel spreadsheet. I’m falling at the first fence here: how do I read any HA files from elsewhere on my home network?
I’m running HA 2023 11.1 within an Oracle VirtualBox on a networked PC and the only thing I can see on the hard disk is a file called haos_ova-9.4. Clearly I’ve got the local URL http://192.168.0.87:8123 but I don’t know how to use that to find a file I can read externally to HA.
I’m expecting to use file notifier to write the values of several sensors to a file once daily that I can import into an Excel file.
Can any kind soul point me in the right direction?
Install the Samba share addon.
The Samba addon iirc, lets the host access files inside HA, but not the other way around.
However, what I think you want is now built in:-
Samba is linux’s version of windows file sharing. It allows you to share out directories that can be accessed over the network.
So, you can actually do it one of two ways. Let your networked clients access the HA directory. Or, write from HA to another computer’s shared directory.
Thanks guys - one of those should do it.
I have put Samba Share on my HA, On my windows 11 machine I can navigate to my network folder, where I find my HA icon. When I click on the HA, all it does is launch HA rather than open up the folder. What settings have I got wrong ?
