Please add native support for the AprilAire S86W thermostats to the native HA AprilAire integration. Presently only 8800-series and 6000-series thermostats are supported.
The S86W are frequently used to quickly enable automation of AprilAir dehumidifiers in remote location scenarios (e.g. crawlspaces). IN this scenario, the S86 is locally connected and installed, and configuration is done remotely over wifi. This enables the dehumidifier to share it’s status (on/off), humidity setting, and use the thermostats sensors. This is “External Control” vs “remote control” per AA.
Yes please, I just got this thermostat to enable wifi access for my ERV system. The device has the “Connection Type = Automation” setting. But the current HA integration is not recognizing it. Possibly the port is wrong, but there are no instructions online or in the manual about setting up the automation component.
It looks like the Control4 driver for Aprilaire supports S86WMUPR along with 8840/etc, so I’m hoping that means the automation protocol is identical/similar:
@jonoberheide I’m still a bit green on HA side of things (I know SmartThings very well). So do I just need to try and re-add my device in the HA integration?
