Given all the recent developments and improvements I’ve moved away from NodeRed back to native Home Assistant for all my scripts and automations.
It would be really helpful if it was possible to embed notes/comments within the more complicated scripts and automations so I can remember why I did something the way I did without having to reverse engineer the item again!
I agree this would be a massive improvement and sometimes I still use yaml for this reason alone.

This is not technically possible.
UI automations and scripts are saved as json data and json does not support comments.
A workaround of including a comment key (comment: blah blah ) for each section was discussed but rejected last time this was suggested. You do have the description: key.
