Is there a way to set an add-on, which is shown in the sidebar, as the default dashboard for a device?
Background:
I have Frigate installed on a 2nd HA machine and would like to set it as the default page for when I open the dashboard for it on my tablet. The Frigate add-on doesn’t show up as an option in the ‘Dashboard’ dropdown in the ‘Profile’ page - none of the add-ons do.
I’d also like to be able to have ‘Music Assistant’ as the default dashboard on another tablet.
First off, frigate is a separate entity to HA, yes you can install it as an add on but it is not part of HA therefore will have no HA dashboard.
You could install the frrigate card and use that as your default dashboard, or just setup your browser to use the frigate ui instead of the HA dashboard
Yup, I’m fully aware of that - just like Music Assistant is as well.
I know it does not have a dashboard out of the box, but it can ‘live’ in the sidebar just like most add-ons can, just like ‘real dashboards’ do.
I’m using the Frigate Card, but
a) there’s so much the Frigate Card can’t do
and
b) I’d have to recreate an (inferior) subset of the full functionality of the add-on (e.g. missing all the options from the hamburger menu).
All I was asking was, if it’s possible so set up the add-on page of Frigate as a default dashboard so that I have it at my fingertips when starting the app from one of my tablets.
Using the URL as the tablet browser’s homepage is an option, but it’s not really what I’m after.
In case you are on android, I managed to create a shortcut to my frigate addon using an app called “shortcut maker” and it works great.
It also added a fingerprint lock before opening the frigate dashboard.
Maybe there’s something similar for ios (if you are not on android)
