Hi Guys!
I want to share with you a BOINC addon that I recently started.
BOINC is an open-source software platform for computing using volunteered resources.
It downloads scientific computing jobs and runs them invisibly in the background.
The addon could be check out from this repository: hectorespert/boinc-addons
Could do with a bit more information - not much here and even less in the repository.
Does this addon actually run jobs on the HA server, or does it just access the Boinc account manager?
Runs BOINC jobs on the Home Assistant like the Folding@home addon.
The only limitation is that you requires an account in a boinc account manager to attach the boinc client to receive jobs.
My HA server is a RPi 4 - is that likely to be able to do any useful work? I’ve tried Boinc jobs for World Community Grid on a Rpi before - it took days to complete what my PC could do in a couple of hours.
I think that all work is useful if the job is done before the deadline of the job expires.
For example, there is an italian project that supports OpenWrt routers: https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test/apps.php
Since the upgrade to version 2.0.0 Boinc has been using 100% of my CPU (not what I want). I see this has been reported on GitHub, but the issue has been closed without being resolved.
