Add precision to entities in badges used in new section headings

I would find it very helpful if the badges in the new section headings could have a precision property.

In my dashboards, I use badges in the headings to display temperatures and humidity. They are displayed with two decimal places as default. It would be great if there was a way to change the precision of the values.

Couldn’t you just change the default precision for the entity?

Since badges are supposed to be used to a “quick glance” - a user may want to see a rounded value, and in all other places of HA a full “raw” value is needed. Changing accuracy for the entity itself will affect the whole HA which could be undesired.

When I used to have old badges, I created template sensors with rounded values specially for this “quick glance”.
Actually, a possibility to define a numerical precision could be useful for all stock cards.

Agree. It was not meant to say it wasn’t a valid request. But for temp/hum as asked, 2 digits seems useless anyway, unless it would be for very, very special purposes. So it might solve the OP’s immediate problem for now.

Thanks for your reply.
But nope, I tried that but it is sadly not considered in heading badges.

Ah, that too is an unfortunate oversight. I voted for you

Edwin, stupid me - I changed the precision of the wrong entity. I checked it again and you are right: the modified decimal places are now shown in the heading badges.

But it would be helpful to let the entities in a different precision just in case you need it somewhere else than in the dashboard view.

So I would keep that feature request still open.

No worries, I won’t retract my vote

Too funny… I did the exact same thing. I was scratching my head longer than I care to admit until I saw this post and wondered…“maybe I changed the wrong one too”. I did.

Changing the unit could also help.
2.345 W could be 2.3 kW

Precision and unit conversion would be a nice addition to badges and any entities display

Uhm…2.345 W is 0.002345kW, and that definitely wouldn’t help.

Depends on a number format.
