Add smart control to Dumb Cabinet LED Lights

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for guidance on integrating my kitchen cabinet lights with Home Assistant. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Lights: Two standard LED bulbs controlled by a simple remote.
  • Remote: Offers on/off and dimming functions.
  • Challenge: These are “dumb” LEDs, lacking built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

My objective is to connect these lights to Home Assistant for automations.

My Expertise:

  • Comfortable configuring Home Assistant.
  • Limited electronics knowledge

Question:
Are there any specific brands or models of smart controllers that would work well in this scenario?

Any insights or recommended resources would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I assume this remote is RF 433 ? In that case you could acquire a dongle for that, look on this forum. But (!) rf = send and forget so no clue if it is on or not so I would replace it with a zigbee led controller like below or if you donot have zigbee, a wifi version of that

btw, do check the spec’s and functionality covered when you order something, there may be differences depending on the model

Zigbee 3.0 DC12-24-36V LED Controller WZS1/2/3/4/5 Voice /Google/Alexa control For Single Color CCT RGB RGBW RGB+CCT Led Strip - AliExpress

Thanks for your help! You pointed me in the right direction.

I bought the TRÅDFRI Driver for wireless control (10W) from IKEA and used it with an old Hue dimmer I had. It works great!
