Hi all,
I would like to propose an enhancement for the myStrom integration, specifically regarding its compatibility with the Home Assistant Energy Dashboard.
The Problem:
Currently, the energy sensors in the myStrom integration (such as the average consumption sensor) do not appear in the Energy Dashboard. After reviewing similar devices, such as Shelly energy meters, I noticed the issue stems from the absence of the state_class: total_increasing attribute, which is required for energy sensors that measure cumulative consumption.
Proposed Solution:
To make the myStrom integration compatible with the Energy Dashboard, I suggest the following modifications:
-
Add state_class: total_increasing to the energy-related sensors, specifically for cumulative energy consumption.
-
Ensure the unit_of_measurement is set to kWh for cumulative energy readings, similar to how Shelly devices are integrated.
-
Adjust the device_class to energy, which correctly classifies the sensor as an energy consumption sensor.
This would allow users to track their energy usage more effectively within the Energy Dashboard, bringing the myStrom integration on par with other devices such as Shelly plugs.
Why This Matters:
By adding support for cumulative energy measurement, users will be able to utilize the full potential of Home Assistant’s Energy Management features, providing insights into their overall consumption. This is especially important for users aiming to monitor and reduce their energy footprint, making Home Assistant a more complete solution for smart home energy management.
I believe this enhancement would greatly benefit those using myStrom devices and further improve Home Assistant’s energy tracking capabilities.
