Adding a "sound output device" in HASS which is a raspberry pi 3.5mm

Hi

Very new to HASS. I am trying to play Spotify music to my Monoprice Amp as a source. I’ve set up the Monoprice 6 zone amp integration successfully (can control this from HASS). Now I am trying to get the sound signal to the amp.

I was attempting this. Installing shairport-sync on the raspberry pi with pulseaudio. Then plugging in the Raspberry Pi headphone output to as a source on the Monoprice amp. I thought the shairport-sync will appear on HASS as device … same as my alex-dot and I can use that as a “destination”.

I’m very new to this so apologies if this sounds bad. Am i going about this the right way? Is there another way? I found the pulseaudio integration. Is it better to avoid shairport altogether? I just want to control the monoprice zone and spotify music from HASS in one widget?

Appreciate any pointers or guides how to do this.

Bump on this :pray:t4:

I would love an answer for this. I have the same amp and a similar HA installation setup.

Thanks for adding this topic! It would be really nice to have implemented. With the Apple TV addon it is possible to add the shairport-sync, but its not working.

Home Assistant uses pyatv to communicate, I tested it standalone, but I cant get it working to stream to shairport-sync, hence the documentation states it is working:

Anyone else have any idea?

THX!
