Adding an Aqara m3 hub to home assistant using iOS

My Aqara m3 hub has three leak sensor accessories. I have the home assistant app installed on an iPad. I also have an Apple TV with thread running HomeKit. I want to add the m3 hub and its accessories to home assistant. It’s a matter hub so that I haven’t paired with anything else. When following the instructions in home assistant I choose, “no, it’s new”. The camera app comes up and I select “more options… “ where I see the m3 hub listed. I tap it and it adds it to HomeKit and home assistant. I guess HomeKit automatically wants to have it too. I see the accessories in HomeKit but not in HA. So I remove the device from HA and add it again. This time I select “yes, it’s already in use”. I go to HomeKit and copy the pairing code, adding it to HA. The hub is in HA again now but I still don’t see any accessories. What am I doing wrong?

I removed the m3 hub from Apple HomeKit and added it as an HA HomeKit device to home assistant using the HomeKit code on the sticker on the back of the m3 hub. Then I could see the accessories in HA and using the HomeKit bridge I added them back to Apple HomeKit.
