Adding HomeBridge to HomeAssistant

I like my setup the way it is, and wanted to add HomeAssistant’s automation power gradually. I installed and just found out that for some reason I need to portforward to have HA connect to my SmartThings. I figured I’d add my HomeBridge to it, but the only add on I see for that doesn’t have much in the way of config.

I’d prefer not to create extra ewaste and get all new IoT just for HA, so I need SmartThings/HomeBridge to work as I can’t add some of my bulbs as they’re WiFi not Zigbee. I also refuse to open ports as I don’t see the reason I need to open them just to talk to a device.

The HB->HA add on I found is this one github (dot) com slash davide125 slash hassio-addons with the link broken so I don’t look like a spammer. This doesn’t work as it doesn’t find my HomeBridge, nor save the settings when I give it a hostname, but it doesn’t take an IP.

Am I out of luck with wanting both to work together without opening myself to port scanners?
