Adding Melnor Bluetooth Device to Home Assistant using Bluetooth Proxy

Hi,

I got the Melnor 65183AMZ Bluetooth Hose Timer, 2-Zone and I have a bluetooth proxy and I was hoping to be able to add the timer through the proxy. I am running my home assistant using a VM and it has no BT adapter attached, and it will be a bit far from the location where the hose timer will be installed.

Every time I try to add the Melnor Bluetooth Integration it says no devices available, and I was wondering if there is a way to add this through the Bluetooth Proxy or not.

I have HA on 21024.9.1 and ESPHome is updated to latest version as well

Did you notice that note?

nothing else is connected for sure, it was actually just brought out of the box and nothing was discovered by Bluetooth Proxy, tried to connect it to my phone and it worked with the melnor app, turned off bluetooth again on my phone to make sure they are not connected but not being discovered by the Bluetooth proxy, neither can add it through the Melnor Bluetooth Integration.

Just bought a BT usb adapter and added to my home assistant, I was able to connect to my melnor BT 2 zone with no issues at all.

Still cannot connect it through the Bluetooth Proxy.

The problem I have is the BT adapter doesn’t reach the location where the timer will be installed. This is why I was hoping to have the Bluetooth proxy one works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have active connections enabled for your BT Proxy? It defaults to false.

It is active here is my settings:

esp32_ble_tracker:
scan_parameters:
interval: 1100ms
window: 1100ms
active: true

bluetooth_proxy:
active: true

Also I see a BT beacon been discovered when I turned on my BT proxy.

After adding the Melnor Bluetooth through the BT USB Adapter, seems it is working fine with the BT Proxy, just removed the BT USB adapter from Home Assistant.

I think there is something special about the Melnor Bluetooth integration and this is why it has separate entry in the system not being added as regular Bluetooth Device.
