This is my first post. I’ve been a systems engineer for years but I’m a green noob with Home Assistant.
I’ve got things running and I’m in the GUI. I see my AEON Labs ZW090 Z-Stick. Z-Wave network appears to be running. I’ve got a WD200+ installed and it works manually.
I’ve been watching youtube and reading posts trying to figure out the typical flow of how Z-Wave devices are added? Do I need to do secret pattern of button presses to put my dimmer in inclusion mode or something?
I promise I’m going to keep reading/learning but it’d be nice if someone can either point me to a thread or hold my hand through the first one (of 20).
Z-WAVE INCLUSION
Follow this 2-step procedure to add your new HomeSeer dimmer to your Z-Wave network:
1 Put your Z-Wave controller into inclusion mode. Consult your controller manual if you’re unsure how to do this.
HomeSeer users: press “Add Device” on your Z-Tool+ mobile app
2 Tap the paddle of your new HomeSeer dimmer to begin the inclusion process. This will take a few moments to complete.
HomeSeer users: Be sure to name the dimmer and assign it to a location using Z-Tool+ when inclusion is done
I ended up figuring out but couldn’t find my own thread… lol. I’ve got that pdf but it doesn’t explain the switch side of the process.
Here’s how it went for me. In the Z-Wave Node Management area of Hass I clicked “add node” then pressed the installed dimmer’s up/down once. Refreshed Hass and there it was in the list.
Super easy. So easy it doesn’t look like it’s even worth documenting.
Go to Confiuration page.
Scroll down and click Z-Wave
Chose add node secure
Push the up or down button on the Z-Wave wall switch your’re trying to add.
Check your integrations page in Web GUI and you should see a new node.
You’re done.
