Adding Nest integration

Please bare in mind I have only just started using this program today and know absolutely NOTHING about it. I have been able to integrate most of my smart home devices as it is incredibly simple. However when I try and integrate my nest it says, “ABORTED - The component is not configured. Please follow the documentation”. However, there is no documentation for me to follow! Please when you respond behave you like you are responding to a 6 year old on a laptop. Before this I just used smart things and know nothing of coding etc. Please let me know what to do!

I find it it easier to use the Nest homebridge integration, and then bring it into HA using homekit. I am hoping eventually that it gets added to the Nabu Casa cloud functionality, as the Nest integration seems optimized for that type of service integration.

If you want a direct integration, the nest integration documentation is here: Nest - Home Assistant

Would you mind explaining how I can go about doing that?

If you can run this on a raspberry pi (this is what I do), this guide works pretty well:

Then, follow the home assistant instructions for importing homekit devices. Works well for all my nest gear, including protects that the “new” API doesn’t yet support.

Its like I’m reading hieroglyphics.

Welcome to home assistant.

Are you an Apple person? Perhaps HOOBS would be a better platform for you?

No sir! Havent done apple in years! Just built my first Raspberry Pi this morning! Once I can get nest integrated and figure out how the heck to integrate my Novelli Red light strip Ill be happy.

This page has step by step directions of what to do: Nest - Home Assistant – perhaps you could ask a more specific question? But just to warn you, its like 40 steps. Maybe a video like this could help:
