Hi, I have the Tuya integration set up with five devices. I recently tried to install a new device, which is working well in the Tuya app. However, the Home Assistant Tuya integration is requesting the “Tuya Smart User Code.” According to the integration instructions, this code should be located under “Settings > Account and Security,” but I cannot find this section. I’ve checked everywhere I can think of in the Tuya app and still can’t locate the Smart User Code. I found the “Mini App ID,” but that does not work. What am I missing?
I had to use smart life -app for this.
Are you saying that You had the same problem I’m experiencing and you had to uninstall from the Tuya app and install the hardware device to the Smart Life app. I know how to do that but geez, that’s a pain.
Now you can appreciate why Tuya devices are generally avoided.
The device is an outdoor dimmable power plug with two power outlets. There are not a lot of alternatives. I took what I could find.
I tried uninstalling the device from the Tuya app and installing it on the Smartlife App. Installation went ok. The device works fine with either the smartlife or the Tuya app. But I still can’t locate the “Smart User Code” on either APP. Is the Tuya integration broken? or this issue specific to my device? Looking at GitHub, I am seeing what appears to be many significant issues?
In the Smartlife app under Settings > Account and Security. Scroll to the bottom and you should see User Code.
I installed the smart life app on a android device (I was previously using an apple iPhone). Subsequently, I was able to finish the installation of the power outlet using the android.
Not sure why I could not get to the right screen using the Iphone. It will remain a mystery…
