Addressable LED Strip

Hi All
Sorry if this is a repeat but I am having great difficulty in locating the correct pieces of kit I need.

I wish to create an effective LED strip that has the quality of the LIFX neon flex. that is you cannot see any dots just a lit silicon rope strip. I want it to run this strip up my stairwell so that it travels upwards or downwards like its flowing.

This I will hopefully achieve with esphome/esp32 (or something similar) however I cannot for the life of me find a suitable LED strip. Everything Ive seen has still the visibility of ‘dots’ even after putting in a diffuser.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for Any kit to do this project I would be muchly gratefull.

Thankyou

I would love to be “updated” on this matter as well

The way I know is to increase the led density, and add a proper diffuser, but I’ve seen “COB” leds popping up lately that seem very much adequate, but it seems at the cost of individual led control?

Surely if you want the quality of LIFX neon flex, why not buy LIFX neon flex? Or am I missing something?

I am sure if you want run it on ESP32 it will be easy enough to do that.

AE is full of those, can’t say about quality compared to lifx though…

What a nice idea, I would love to have that for my stairs as well. If you happened to find the right straps, please do an update.

Thankyou all for the input.

@Arh my understanding is that while the lifx neon flex is smooth (I love it) it is not addressable. I know there are themes (not of which Im after) but I believe you cant just cut into it and start writing code to each pixel

The video makes it look like they are addressable. I have no knowledge of them.

If so you will be able to control them from an esp32, but its not really the point I guess. Why not juts buy a cheap strip from aliexpress just buy the one with the most LEDs per meter.
