As you all probably know, we like to use Home Assistant to control our lights.
Over the last few months, a lot of work has been done on the Ux control of lights and most of it has been implemented very successfully (unfortunately still no real-time colour pick function for lights that have a powerful chip).
In my opinion, however, the increasingly popular addressable LEDs have been completely ignored.
WLed has been showing us the advantages of such LED strips for years and yet we still have to log into the WLed overlay to change it there.
Maybe, perhaps it was too small tropic at this time.
However, with the introduction of Matter at the latest, such a function should have become much more relevant.
Matter supports addressable leds and has already arrived on the market, for example Nanoleaf has a light chain with this function.
So it would only make sense to provide functions in the front and back end that allow addressable LEDs to be divided up and controlled independently.
A gallery of scenes, as with many companies, would of course also be very desirable, but this should be a topic for later.
I hope that the topic does not only reflect my interest and wish you all a nice day.
I would like addressable LEDs to be controllable in Home Assistant.
This does not work.
I cannot divide or assign colours to the individual segments or even see them in Home Assistant.
The usual overlays from major providers are quite good, but with a higher number of LEDs it can quickly become confusing.
See Nanoleaf, no scene selection, no segmentation, just normal colour and temp selection. So the support doesn’t quite work.
This is exactly the function I would really like to have
After all, it would also follow the plan of Home Assistant to manage everything centrally without to use the web interface or the manufacturer’s app at the same time.
That would be awesome, i would like to use small strip led (not more than 5 leds) has a indicator inside some sensor that have limited addressable capabilities so i can make automation to turn specific led in some colours for sensor status. I vote for this feature request.
In the meantime, an option you have today is to use ESPHome and configure each of those LEDs as a separate light.
I’d love this functionality as well. I have an addressable LED strip over the bed and would love to be able to control each side separately in HA, or dim to extra low brightness by turning most of the LEDs off.
I would also be interested in such a function.
I use some addressable LED strips with WLED and the direct control of individual LEDs or areas via home assistant would be very useful.
Especially for automations
