I have set up adguard on home assistant and directed my rooter DHCP address to adguard so i can have ad blocking on every device connected to the rooter. This works fine and most of the ads get blocked.
I visit often a website that whenever you click it redirects to a long URL and then redirects to an ad. This usually opens in a new window. As soon as you close the window, you can navigate the website for a while and after it kicks in again. I am trying to block this website with a custom filter but wasn’t successful so far. Here are the rules i have tried so far:
Not sure what i am doing wrong and it doesn’t block it. If anyone can help me i would be greatful as i have looked into every kind of documentation from AdGuard and i think my rules are correct.
Hi,
You probably enabled all filters in adguard but I assume it doesnt help.
Try to set ip of home assistant running adguard on dns 1 and dns 2 for wifi and lan config on your router. Some devices or maybe programs try all available dns if they cant connect on first available dns.
I have enabled most of the filters in AdGuard. Currently i have set up Home Assistant IP address only on the primary DNS and Google DNS IP on the second one. I have found that when i add the IP to both primary and secondary DNS in case Home assistant is not running (or during a restart or update) i don’t have internet at home.
But i guess, if you are not correcting me on the rules it means that they are fine right? I should look somewhere else to fix the problem…
And this is probably your problem. In my experience, although I’m not sysadmin or programmer, there are devices and programs that can use second dns for resolver.
Check your adguard Bootstrap DNS servers configuration in dns settings. There you should add dns resvoler for adguard.
Maybe you didnt add dns resolver in home assistant
