I have succesfully done a ‘proof of concept’ of Whisper/Piper/openWakeWord using a M5Stack Atom Echo. I cxan see potential for using a local voice assistant, but the microphone/speaker combiination of the Atom Echo is underwhelming. I am seeking advice from the community on which ESPHome devices people have used, and whether you would recommend them or not. I am aware of the KinCony-AS and the ESP32-S3-BOX-3, and their price seems reasonable, Any feedback on them specifically would be very much appreciiated. Thanks!
I’d hold off a little bit as I think Nabu Casa’s own device will be announced pretty soon.
