Aeotec Gen5 Z-Stick as Secondary Controller

I have a Samsung Smartthings hub as a primary controller and I thought I would start experimenting with Home Assistant. I bought a Aeotec Gen5 Z-Stick (ZW090), I have Home Assistant installed and it is successfully recognizing the ZW090. I would like to get the z-stick in secondary mode to begin with but have been unable to figure out how to do this. The Aeotec documentation that I found says consult the manuals for the host software. Has anyone been able to do this? Suggestions? I am running Fedora 26.

Hey there!

Did you have success in this configuration? I am trying the same approach with a Nortek Zwave/Zigbee usb controller.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Anybody get this to work? I’m attempting the same thing with an Abode hub.

To make this work some kind of software is needed to put the Aeotec USB stick in “learn” mode in order for it to be a secondary controller. To my knowledge neither HA nor OpenZwave support this. I have an existing third party software that I bought years ago that supports learn mode. I used it to successfully get the Aeotec USB stick to join the ZWave network with SmartThings as primary controller. So it can be made to work, but I haven’t done much with it yet as I primarily use the ST MQTT bridge with HA.
