Aeotec Multisensor 7 Humidity Sensor - slow response on humidity decrease

I have 3 new Aeotec Multisensor 7s I just installed in bathrooms.

In one bathroom I ran a shower for 15 minutes with the door closed and bathroom fan off, and I observed a nice clear spike in reported humidity compared to the other 2 sensors in my house.

After 15 minutes I turned the shower off, turned the fan on, and opened the bathroom door and expected to see humidity levels return to ambient fairly quickly. Instead what I got is this:

(blue is the bathroom sensor, cyan and magenta are other humidity sensors)

It’s approaching 3 hours and it’s still far off from the ambient humidity. Walking in the bathroom I can tell it’s not any more humid than the rest of the house.

What gives? Has water vapour perhaps condensed on the humidity sensor and is taking its sweet time to dry out?

I want to trigger my bathroom fan from the humidity level and this will make it difficult to judge when the shower has ended and the fan can turn off.

Have you configured the device? I had this with my Multi Sensors 6. In configuration you can set the reporting time, I have 30s. Although a word of warning, if you are using batteries it will kill them, I swapped to mains connection and get excellent response.

Yes it’s configured for 60s reporting time, and I’m on mains power. It’s still taking way too long (10+ hrs) for the reported humidity level to drop.

Hi, Dave, I know it’s a PITA but I would go through these diagnostic steps.

  1. Reconfigure to a 10s report just so you can see what being sent quickly.
  2. I that doesn’t correct it and it might, I would heal the device from the Z-Wave coordinator.
  3. If still no luck then it is worth moving it to another room to see if the environment is causing it.

Let me know how you get on.
